• Always check the User Manual for guidance on the safe use of your Pressure King Pro before you do any cooking.

Remember that you will be working with hot liquids and steam, so always ensure that all the safety requirements are fully in place before you start any cooking.

Always use oven gloves or tongs to operate the pressure release valve (escaping steam can easily cause burns).

Please see the 'Basic Usage' Topics for help with identifying the parts and controls on your Pressure King Pro 5L.

For further detail, also see the "How to slowly release the steam…" and “How to quickly release the steam…" topics in the 'Basic Usage' section.
  • 1. When your cooking programme has finished, you can release the pressure quickly or slowly, depending upon what you have been cooking. First, press the Cancel button to stop the Keep Warm function.
  • 2. The Quick Release method is recommended for foods such as vegetables and seafood which can be cooked or steamed quickly.

Move the pressure release valve to the open position and leave your Pressure King Pro 5L to stand for at least two minutes. Always wear an apron, and use oven gloves or tongs to operate the pressure release valve (escaping steam can easily cause burns).

The float valve will drop to indicate that the steam is released, then the lid can safely be removed.

If the float valve does not drop after two minutes, your Pressure King Pro 5L needs to stand for a little longer to release the steam.

Gently shake your Pressure King Pro 5L a few times while holding the base handles, this helps to disperse any steam which may be trapped within the cooked food. Then the lid can be safely removed (loosen the lid slightly before you fully remove it to ensure that no trapped pressure or steam remains inside).

Take care when opening the lid as the food will be hot. Always use oven gloves and an apron to help protect yourself from burns.

Never try to force the lid off, always allow the pressure to properly reduce which allows the lid to be removed normally.
  • 3. The Slow Release method should be used for:
    • foods with skin such as sausages, chicken and some fruit
    • food with high liquid or starch content such as porridge, soup, pasta, rice, some fruit and grains
    • food such as meat and potato which can trap air inside causing expansion when the lid is removed (this can cause hot food to splash out).
Leave the pressure release valve in the closed position and leave your Pressure King Pro 5L to stand for at least fifteen minutes (some recipes may need to stand for longer) for the pressure to release naturally and gradually.

When the float valve has dropped, showing that the pressure has been released, the pressure release valve can be opened to release any remaining pressure. Always wear an apron, and use oven gloves or tongs to operate the pressure release valve (escaping steam can easily cause burns).
